Review of Bilateral consultations between Tajikistan and the USA
On February 21, 2013 in Dushanbe annual Review of the political consultations were held between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United States of America.
The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The representatives of relevant government agencies of the country were also included in Tajik delegation.
The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia leaded the official delegation of the United States of America. In the delegation were also presented the U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan and other U.S. officials.
The issues of bilateral relations, economy and trade, business and investment climate, human dimension, border security, illicit drug trafficking were discussed at the meeting. The parties also considered the issues of development of road and border infrastructure, the construction of railway projects, as well as water and environmental issues. In addition, the sides discussed issues of cultural and educational exchange.
It was underlined that development of protracted cordial relations between Tajikistan and the United States of America is in the interest of both countries and will promote and restore peace and stability in the region.
Summing up the results of the consultations, the Minister expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of discussions and noted that the bilateral dialogue format allows us to present the positions and vision for the state of bilateral relations, to assess the progress made and to develop ways for their further development.
